These mittens will make you smile. Little owls sitting in a tree are so cute and retro.

This pattern contains instructions for 4 sizes of adult mittens and how to measure for the right fit.

These mittens use 2 colors, are worked in the round and have a gusseted thumb.
What you need to know

  • How to knit in the round.
  • How to knit with 2 colors.
  • For provisional cast on you need to know how to crochet a chain.

Materials You’ll Need:

  • One set of double pointed needles and/ or
    a min. 32” circular for magic loop
    method- in the size needed to get the size mitten you want. Size 1 (2.5mm) for a size 8 mitten up to a size 4
    (3.5mm) for a size 9 mitten.
  • 3 skeins of a light worsted or DK yarn- 50 gms with 144 yards per skein. 2 in Main color- background and 1 for contrast.
  • 2- 12” scraps of yarn to hold thumb stitches
  • 1- 2 yard scrap of yarn for provisional cast on- optional
  • 1- crochet hook- size F or G or H- to make chain for Provisional cast on.
  • Yarn needle to weave in ends
