This long rectangular scarf is suitable for beginner knitters or as a quick project for more advanced knitters. It is knit from one short end to the other, and features a garter stitch and knit/purl textured stitch pattern at each end, with the plain knit/purl pattern at the center.

The inspiration for this design is the Montmartre neighborhood of Paris, known for its famous cobblestone streets. The simple knit/purl pattern featured in this design looks like small, uneven cobblestones.

The pattern is provided in both chart and written (line-by-line) format, so you can choose your preference. Yarn is easily substituted; choose any drapey sportweight or light DK weight yarn of your choice. While gauge is not critical for this project, please note that it may affect the overall length, so be sure to keep an eye on how quickly you are using up yardage.
