The batwing pullover is knit in one piece, front to back, on size 11 circular needles in a 16” length (for neckline ribbing) and the size 11 and 13 circular needles in 24” length for the body. It has two short side seams to be sewn. I designed it to be a quick and easy thing to pull on over my jammy’s in the morning while sipping coffee and waiting for the house to warm up. However that said, I think it’s a really cute pullover with jeans and a tee. It’s a one size pattern but fits sizes Medium to 1X easily.

Gauge: 10 sts/4” in K2P2 rib with smaller needles

I selected Lion Brand Homespun for many reasons: it’s soft to the touch and very light in weight when worked up, it’s inexpensive, and it’s quick. The boucle texture of the yarn hides minor tension flaws and knitting it with the larger needles allows the fabric to “breathe” at the same time it’s beautifully warm. If you go to the Lion Brand website, you’ll discover there are many Homespun colors available that I haven’t generally found in stores. The pattern includes some tips for working with the yarn as well as diagrams to learn how to do the Nearly Invisible Increase.

I’m working on a second pullover now to double-check my written pattern. If I find changes that need to be made I’ll post an updated PDF pattern. Please send me your ideas that might clarify the pattern instructions AND post your completed projects. It’s so helpful to be able to see other’s visions/versions and chosen yarns/fibers.
