My daughter and I are Lucky Violet Color Co, and we designed a great selection of special Mother’s Day inspired colorways especially for our Mother’s Day knit-alongs.

Our colorways are available online only at: www.LuckyVioletColorCo.com

If you have never knit a top-down triangle shawl, I hope you will give this one a try because I have taken careful steps to create a gently challenging pattern, written clearly and free of errors so that you will have wins working a shawl up for your sweet mama.

My mother shared with me that when she was a little girl, on Mother’s Day the tradition was to wear a red rose in celebration of the love felt for a mother who was still living, or a white rose to honor a mother who had passed away.

She is a rose kind of lady, my mother. Anywhere she has lived, there are always healthy productive rose bushes in garden. When I think of my mother, I instantly think of a pretty cream colored rose with intense crimson edges on the petals, bleeding into a faint pink that quickly disappears against that luscious cream background.

She asked me to knit her a pretty pink shawl, and I thought it would be great to do so this Mother’s Day using yarn I hand dyed myself (our “Peony” colorway is perfect for my mother’s kind of pink). I wanted the motif to reflect my mother’s love of roses and the Mother’s Day rose tradition of days gone by so I chose “Rose Buds” and the “Rose Trellis Lace” stitch patterns to adorn the shawl for this KAL.

We designed these great Mother’s Day inspired colorways (pictured at left from top down) just for this KAL:

Maggie’s Biscuits celebrates my Granny’s wonderful soda biscuits covered in butter and homemade strawberry preserves. I am using this colorway to make my own A Rose for my Mama shawl.

Scamps is inspired by the Adventure Time cartoon, a favorite of my daughter and her little girl. There is one particular episode titled “Scamps” that inspired my daughter to create this color.

Peony and Dogwood are lovely pink colorways that would show off the rose motif in this shawl beautifully. Peony is a warmer, paler pink and dogwood is brighter and a bit stronger, cooler pink.

Barely is a pale, cream color that would suit anyone who wants to knit this shawl in honor of a mother who has passed away, in keeping with the Mother’s Day rose tradition.
