Mountain Alpaca Christmas Stocking by Robin Denney

Mountain Alpaca Christmas Stocking

Had my father been alive when I designed these, I would have made the elk version of the stocking for him. The others are inspired by those animals I see each year as I head toward Mt. Hood, in NW Oregon. Of course, the Alpaca was inspired by the alpaca farm where I stop to buy yarn next to a whole herd.

The pattern is scalable as are all the designs in the book and will work with most yarns from light to bulky.

Lightweight yarn (#3) will be approximately 18” long.
Medium weight (#4) will be approximately 21” long.
Bulky weight (#5) will be approximately 24” long.

Yardage is provided for the design as pictured. Additional yardage is provided for the motif details and stocking components to that you can design your own and use yarns in your stash.

Cuff and Motif are knit flat and then joined to complete the foot in the round. The back seam provides some structure so that stretch is reduced when the stocking is full of goodies.

eBook contains charts for all four Mountain Animal Designs: Deer, Elk, Alpaca, a Horse.

This pattern is a companion to those in my Book “Keepsake Christmas Stockings: A Coordinated Collection to Knit. Construction steps and full color work reference are included.
