Mt. Bachelor is named as such because it stands apart from the group of mountains known as the Three Sisters in Central Oregon. Hence, the one large cable and three small ones in this pattern. Bachelor is also a popular ski destination, referenced here in the repeating diamond (as in black diamond like the ski slope difficulty rating) motif, as well as in bobbles reminiscent of snow.

Difficulty level: Advanced beginner

Please note that the following abbreviations/instructions didn’t make it into the calendar legend. They are:

MB – Make bobble. Knit into the front, back, front, back of the same st. Pass second st on RHN over first st and off, then again, then again, until only one st remains.

I-cord cast on – Cast on 3 sts using your preferred method. Turn work. Slip all three sts from RHN to LHN. Working yarn will be attached to the far left st on LHN, making you ready to begin i-cord. KFB, K2. Slip first 3 sts back to LHN. Hint: for this first row, make the KFB as tight as possible. Repeat this row until you have desired number of sts PLUS TWO on the RHN. Slip first 3 sts back to LHN. K3tog TBL. Hint: pull up on the st just created to make the bottom st of the K3tog tighter.

Applied I-cord bind off - CO 2 sts using Cable CO. (K1-TBL, K2tog TBL, slip both sts back to LHN)* rep until 2 sts remain.

Cable Cast-On: Begin with at least 2 sts on left-hand needle. (If you are beginning a project this way, make a slip-knot and then knit on one stitch.) Insert right-hand needle between the last two stitches on left-hand needle and knit a stitch, placing the new stitch on the left-hand needle.
