This pattern is also available as part of Crescendo Book: an Eco-friendly e-book with 5 shawl designs.

Nenúfar is a triangular shawl knitted bottom-up with a lace stitch resembling water lilies. It starts with a few stitches and gradually increases size. The lace pattern is combined with a stockinette middle section creating elegant diagonal lines.
This pattern offers some design options - if may work an entirely lace shawl by repeating one of the the charts until you get the desired size. As shown has a stockinette insertion with wide lace borders followed by a lace motif knitted in the middle.
The borders are worked in true lace adding interest to this shawl easily customizable by changing the number of pattern repeats.

More information

Materials: approx 522m – 600.3 m (570.8 – 656.4 yds) of fingering yarn - I used 522 m (570.8 yards) of Drops Alpaca (fingering yarn) but if you knit loosely you may need more yarn; size, 3.75 mm (US 5) circular needles; tapestry needle; 4 markers, pins or wires for blocking

Difficulty: Advanced – experience lace skills are required - long tail cast on, knit, purl, yarn over (made in several places throughout pattern, including at the beginning and at the end of the row), Kf&b, all sorts of single and double decreases worked both in right and wrong side rows (borders are worked in lace which requires extra attention), K4tog, K3tog7 (making 7 sts out of 3), elastic bind-off, wet-blocking.

Pattern format: pdf.

Pattern Style: Full – text and charts. I provide some links as well.
