Newsboy Cap for American Girl Dolls inspired by today’s fashion trends, where I also offer variations creating unique effects.

Also available in French ~ courtesy of bergeronnette50 and Dutch ~ courtesy of Johanna & Friends

Pattern Features: The pattern has been written out with line-by-line instructions given along with variations for working contrast color

Construction: Worked from the brim to crown in one piece then seamed. Cap peak worked separately then sewn in place

Skill Level:
Beginner: Project for first time knitters using basic knit and purl stitches, minimal shaping

Variations in this trendy newsboy cap:

  1. Adding two rows of contrast after the increase row ~ see this effect in second picture ~ the accent was also used for the underside of the cap’s peak.

  2. Adding a single row of contrast in the increase row ~ see third picture, showing a hint of accent

  3. For Beret see picture 4, I worked extra rows after increase in main color and added a garter stitch row before decreases which I continued in the accent color.

  4. Or just omitting the cap peak, with no further changes and you will have this beret, as seen in 5th picture.
