Nick Chopper
Nick Chopper was designed to be Emerald City Yarn’s first KAL, and we invite you to join us! This knit is the perfect relaxing knit. Simple, but offers a one color, two color, or work with the Woolstok Mini Bundles for a super fun version!
This pattern will remain free for the duration of the KAL (Nov 15-Dec 15, 2025).
Materials
Yarn
Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok (100% fine highland wool; 123yds/112m/50g)
Sample is worked in 1314 Deep Velvet (Color A) and 1324 Morning Frost (Color B)
105 (112, 119)yds/96 (102, 109)m Color A and
93 (100, 107)yds/85 (91, 98)m Color B OR
198 (212, 226) yds 181 (193, 207)m total of a heavy DK or light worsted weight yarn.
Optional: Rico Design Make it Blumchen in equivalent yardages to add a subtle sparkle.
Needles
US 6 4.0mm - 16” circular and DPNs
Optional: needle 1-2 sizes smaller than your smaller needle for tubular CO (any length)
Or size to obtain gauge.
Notions
4 stitch markers (with one being unique to indicate BOR), tapestry needle
Gauge
30sts x 32 rounds = 4” x 4”/10cm x 10cm in 1x1 Ribbing Pattern, unstretched and blocked.

Kids to Teen (S/M Adult, L/XL Adult)
To Fit: 18-20 (20-22, 22-24)”/45.5-51 (51-59, 59-61)cm head circumference
This hat is very stretchy, the S/M Adult size was able to fit a 23” head comfortably. If you prefer a snugger fit, choose a smaller size.
