Nore is an oversized, wonderfully cozy shawl/wrap made of 2000 yards of Dream in Color Yarn’s “Smooshy with Cashmere” in three colorways. It can be made using up to 2,000 yards of fingering weight yarn, or the size may be modified to make a more narrow wrap if you wish.

The pattern includes instructions for making it using 2, 3, or 4 hanks of the main color yarn (400 yards per hank).

The inspiration for this piece is the landscape and rivers of Ireland as well as the romance of the Irish countryside. The body of the wrap is worked in an easy to learn lace stitch pattern in the “Bronzed Lake” colorway. The lace pattern creates undulating waves like the ripples of a moving river. The stitch pattern creates ripple along each edge, including the side edges.

The top and bottom edges are bordered in two colors representing the rocky edge of a river and the green grasses along its shores. The edges feature bobbles and Irish knots as well as a lovely ruffled picot edge.

Knit from bottom up, you then go back and add the border to the lower edge from a provisional cast-on.

The unblocked measurements of the original design, using close to 2,000 yards of fingering weight yarn, is 50 inches by 30 inches.
