Nugatory
Nugatory \ˈnü-gə-ˌtor-ē \ adjective
- of little or no consequence, trifling
Ribbed socks are easy and very comfortable, but they can be a bit boring to knit. This pattern offers a variation on the basic ribbed sock with lots of little details that are sure to hold your attention while still producing a comfortable sock.
This sock is knit from the top down on DPNs. The ribs are extra wide for a crisp look. Two of the ribs have been replaced with a panel of plaited stitches. The heel flap employs a clever stitch pattern that maintains the line of the ribbing but still creates a sturdy reinforced heel. The gusset decreases are split into two locations so as to draw the panels of plaited stitches around your foot. These tweaks combine to make a sock that is interesting, but still fairly quick and simple.
