A super fun and squishy hat to knit up for the colder months. The double brim will give you a super cosy fit around the forehead and ears to keep you warm when its windy outside. The pattern is simple enough to knit up quickly so would be perfect for a quick gift knit or use a special skein of DK yarn to make a luxurious hat for yourself this winter. The cabled panel in the hat makes this a perfect beginners cable pattern so if you have yet to try cables I suggest giving this a go!

What you will need:

• Yarn – 100g DK weight Yarn (approx. 225m/246 yds); Yarn used in sample – Open Skies Yarn 100% Superwash Merino DK in I Dreamed A Dream (225m/246yds)
• Needles – 3.25mm (US3) 4mm (US6) 16” circular for knitting in the round or a longer cable for magic loop, and double pointed needles (DPNs) or magic loop in larger size for working the crown decreases; Optional - Second circular needle 4mm or smaller for working the brim (see notes below)
• Notions
o 1 Stitch Marker for marking the beginning of the round and marking cable panel as well as additional markers for crown decreases.
o A tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
o Cable Needle
o Waste yarn for a provisional crochet cast on (only if you decide to use this method for the brim – see notes in the pattern for further details).
• Gauge – Approximately 6 sts/inch in blocked stockinette
• Size – Finished hat circumference approximately 40cm/16 inches (unstretched)

CO - Cast on
sts - Stitches
K - Knit stitch
P - Purl stitch
PM - Place Marker
SM - Slip Marker
KFB - Knit into the front and back of the same stitch (1 stitch inc)
CB10F - Slip 5 stitches onto a cable needle and hold to the front of the work, K5 from Left Hand Needle, then K5 from Cable needle.
CB10B - Slip 5 stitches onto a cable needle and hold to the Back of the work, K5 from Left Hand Needle, then K5 from Cable needle.
CB8B - Slip 4 stitches onto a cable needle and hold to the Back of the work, K4 from Left Hand Needle, then K4 from Cable needle.
K2tog - Knit 2 stitches together (1 stitch decrease)
P2tog - Purl 2 stitches together (1 stitch decrease)
SSK - Slip 2 stitches knitwise one at a time & knit together through back loop (1 stitch decrease)
