The District is laid out in a grid. The Capitol building is where all numbers begin, where the main streets that divide the District into quadrants intersect. In math, this point is called the origin.

Origin is a colorful, top-down baby vest worked almost entirely in stockinette. The A-line is shaped by symmetrical increases in the contrast color, and the hem features a broken garter stitch.

Instructions are written for three sizes: 6 months, 12 months and 18 months. Main and contrast color yardage and measurements of finished garment are included.
