This cowl pattern was inspired by the beautiful creations from Cedar House Yarns. I wanted to combine one of their speckled yarns with a matching contrasting color. With the skeins in my hands, I did a bit of stitch dictionary surfing and I could not be happier with the results.

The pattern comes in two sizes:
Small: 20” around and 13” long.
Large: at top 20” around, at bottom 36” around and 17” long.

The small size is easier and requires US#6, US#7 and US#8 for a light shaping.

The large size has increase rounds that blend into the lace pattern and only US#6 is needed.

Yarn: Sapling Sock by Cedar House Yarns (Fingering weight). Small MC: 60g (300 yards, 275m), CC: 25g (125 yards, 115m). Large MC: 80g (375 yards, 343m), CC: 30g (140 yards, 130m).

Gauge is not important as long as you like the fabric that is produced, though a different gauge may change dimensions and yardage requirements.

The lace pattern is quite simple, plus there are four rounds of plain knitting for each lace round.
