Each year I attend a charity event where attendees are asked to donate children’s books and a toy to teenage mothers. I buy books from a series about a little bear named “Corduroy” who wears green overalls. I buy a small teddy bear and knit overalls to match the ones in the books. The combination of the bear that is dressed just like a character in a book makes this a satisfying gift and project.

The overalls pattern will work with just about any worsted weight yarn. Teddy bear and books are available online.

The pattern starts with the legs and uses Kitchener stitch to graft stitches between the legs. The instructions are EXTREMELY detailed and feature MANY PICTURES to guide you through each step of the way.

You will need double pointed needles, a stitch holder, a stitch marker, 2 buttons and a tapestry needle.

The overalls can be done in any color and can be adapted for any similar size stuffed animal or doll.
