When you have so much going on in your life and just need some relief, pick up this shawl and work on it as needed. Work a row or three to help get your mind off of (for a while) whatever it may be that you are going through.

When I started this shawl I was going through some really rough times. So I designed this to be a very easy pattern, one that I could work on when things got to be too much. Something that did not need any concentration. Something that could be worked on without having to pay too much attention to stitch patterns.

This shawl is done entirely in garter stitch. I used a very thin, almost cobweb lace weight yarn. Any weight of yarn may be used as well. Just remember that the thicker the weight of yarn, the larger the shawl.

There is no gauge listed, you may use whatever gauge you are comfortable with.

If the yarn used for the sample is not available, you may use any size 1 yarn. The yarn used for the sample is mulberry silk. It is 1000 yards.

The sample was knit with 1000 yards, but you can use as much or as little yardage as you want. Just stop at whatever row you feel makes it the size you like. I do, however, suggest that you use at least 500 yards.

Depending on the yarn you choose, this will look great with a wide range of looks from formal to very casual.

It can worn with a shawl pin to hold it closed
