With this design, the adult panda’s body has an internal pocket which opens to reveal the cub inside!

This pattern includes the instructions for both the panda and her cub. The pattern contains loads of photos to help you every step of the way and is written in English, using American crochet terms.

You will need:

Yarn of your choice. Yarn weight doesn’t really matter - the size of your project will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used Patons Smoothie DK Yarn (this is quite a thick DK yarn so it is equivalent to aran or light worsted weight in other brands) and my finished panda measures approximately 19.5cm tall.

You will need the following colours:

White (approx. 148m).

Black (approx. 95m).

Dark Grey (approx. 9.5m).

Please note - The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide.

A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.

Toy stuffing.

Black finer yarn or embroidery thread for adding the cub’s facial details.

A pair of 9mm black eyes.

Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some scissors and a stitch marker.
