Pas de Châle Wrap is a very open lacework design given in two sizes. The shawl shown measures about 16.5” wide by 60” long. The scarf instructions will yield a lace piece approximately 9”wide. It is simple to make this wrap longer or shorter, but the two widths are fixed.

This pattern was designed for the Yarnbox May 2015 Classic Box.

Many of my pattern designs have been inspired by dance. Usually, this translates into symbolism, where shapes in a design indicate movements in ballet. As my model takes the next step in dance and leaves home to pursue a professional career in ballet, I have become more literal (and nostalgic). Pas de Châle really does mean dance or step of the shawl. There are several dances in the world of classical ballet where the ballerina truly dances with a shawl as her partner! I hope you will enjoy seeing one of these short works, called a variation. This video shows a studio practice session where Stephanie dances a variation from the ballet Raymonda.
