This pattern is for the mouse, the opening treasure chest with hidden compartment, the pirate’s outfit (including the shirt, trousers, jacket, hat, eye patch, hook & sword) as well as the parrot, crocodile and barrel of rum!

The pattern contains lots of photos to help you every step of the way. It is written in English, using American crochet terms. All of my patterns have been independently tested prior to publication.

You will need:

Yarn of your choice. Yarn weight doesn’t really matter - the size of your project will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used aran weight yarn and my finished treasure chest measures approximately 18.5cm wide and 17cm tall. Please ensure that you use the same weight yarn throughout your project to ensure that the pieces will fit together.

For the mouse you will need the following colours:

  • Main mouse colour - I used pale grey (approx. 23.5m).
  • Nose / ears / feet / tail colour - I used pale pink (approx. 13m).

For the treasure chest you will need the following colours:

  • Main colour - I used dark brown (approx. 304m).
  • Edge colour - I used gold (approx. 168m).
  • Straps colour - I used light brown (approx. 12m).

For the clothes and accessories you will need the following colours:

  • Jacket & main parrot colour - I used red (approx. 25m).
  • Parrot wings colour - I used blue (approx. 1m).
  • Trousers colour - I used black (approx. 19m).
  • Shirt colour - I used white (approx. 4m).
  • Sword & Hook colour - I used light grey (approx. 4.5m).
  • Belt / Barrel of Rum colour - I used light brown (approx. 10.5m).
  • Cheese colour - I used dark yellow (approx. 2m).
  • Belt Buckle /Jacket detail colour - I used gold (approx. 5m).
  • Crocodile colour - I used light green (approx. 8m).

Please note = The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide. The pattern refers to the colours that I used, however these can be substituted for colours of your choice.

You will also need:

  • A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.

  • A pair of 6mm black safety eyes.

  • Some toy stuffing.

  • Some finer yarn or thread in black, white and dark green, for adding the details to the mouse, parrot and crocodile.

  • A selection of sparkly buttons, beads or sequins for the ‘treasure’.

  • ‘7 count’ plastic canvas. I had a 26cm x 33cm sheet (that’s 10.25 x 13.5 inches) & I used 2 sheets. A higher count (that’s the number of holes per inch) will mean the plastic is more bendy so stick to 7 count if possible.

  • 2 small buttons for the clothes (and a needle and thread with which to attach them).

  • 3 medium buttons for the treasure chest (and a needle and thread with which to attach them).

  • Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some scissors and some stitch markers.

You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself.
Thank you.
