This pattern was originally shared in 2011 as one of my first ever designs. Back then, I made it using plastic yarn (plarn) that is basically plastic bags cut into strips to crochet with.

Update 2021: I have remade this necklace in Scheepjes Catona, using a 3mm hook. I have also updated the pattern and added more photos.
