Mitts are knit side to side then seamed to leave a thumb opening. The design is simple to show off the large-color-pooling. The pattern is specifically designed for using Zombie Yarns Monster (DK merino).

Use bold dyed color for MC and speckles for CC. Your intentional color pooling may vary but due to the repeat of the colors, the skein diameter and the stitch number, it should still form a pretty design similar to the one shown in the photo.
