Simple wristees, lit up with with blocks of colour. Designed to help use-up the beautiful contrast colours leftover when making projects in the Safe Haven ebook, you can make a matching pair or mix Port & Starboard.

Or just use up your most special scraps.

They are worked flat and finished seamed or seamless, as you prefer. There are some stitches to pick-up, but the colourwork is all simple stripes, no intarsia.

You can use any 4ply to sportweight yarn, though I do love them best in cosy alpaca. You could also use this pattern to show-off any pretty leftover yarn - don’t hide them in a scrap-blanket this time; make wristees instead. Just choose a plain yarn to set them off beautifully.

These are quick gifts, easily personalised with favourite colours.

Size
Easy to work to the measurements you want.
Length: recommend 15-30cm/6-12”.
Around: recommend S/M: 18cm/7” or L/XL 21cm/8”.
Sample: 22cm/8 1/2” long x 18cm/7” around

Materials
Any good 4ply/fingering to sportweight yarn works well.
Shown in: Blue Sky Alpacas Melange & Sportweight, 100% baby alpaca, 100m/110yds per 50g skein. The amount of yarn you need depends on the size:
For up to 5 blocks/17cm/7” long, allow 1 skein x main colour (A).
For longer wristees, allow 2 skeins x A.
Allow 7-15m/8-17yds each of 3 contrast colours, (B, C & D).
Sample used: 60g/120m/132yds of Licorice (A), 10m/11yds of Relish (B), 7m/8yds each Blue Cheese (C) & Dijon (D).

3.5mm & 3.75mm/US 3 & US 5 needles
For seamless option, allow about 1m of scrap yarn for holding live stitches, or a spare cable if using interchangeables.

Tension
Not critical - just use a tension that you like for the yarn you’ve chosen. Sampled at 22 sts and 30 rows to 10cm/4” square using 3.75mm/US 5 needles or size required to get gauge.
