When I began this sweater, it was going to be very plain, as who would want to put so much work into something a growing baby would wear for such a short time? Then I read a story of a grandmother-to-be who was knitting a blanket for a soon-to-be-born grandchild. Each word she wrote told of the love going into each stitch in the blanket, how the baby was growing as the blanket was growing. It brought tears to my eyes. A new baby should be wrapped in nothing less than a Labor of Love. It can be passed on to a favorite doll or teddy bear and be kept forever.
