Creative thinkers should always be celebrated! In the Harry Potter series, Luna Lovegood is absolutely my favorite character (although Fred & George are certainly very close seconds). Luna’s love of the unusual makes me happy. So, here are her Nargles. This one got lost, and is currently hanging out in my poinsetta, rather than the mistletoe (because I couldn’t reach up that high to take a decent photo).

They’re a quick project, and are completely adjustable to different yarn weight (although needle size and yardage might change).

Skill-Level: Intermediate, due to a small gauge, and lots of fiddly increases and decreases.
Materials: Approximately 80 yards of Sport Weight yarn in a Main Color (green in the sample), 50 yards of Contrast Color 1 (white), and 25 yards or less of Contrast Color 2 (red). You will also need a small amount of polyfil stuffing to fill the doll.
Needles: US2.5 (3mm) DPNs.
Tools: 5 Safety pins/Locking stitch markers; 2 stitch holders; Tapestry needle; scissors.
Gauge: 28 stitches and 36 rounds per 4in/10cms in stockinette stitch.
** Gauge is unimportant in this project— feel free to use larger yarn/needles or smaller. The important thing is to create a fabric that is tight enough to keep the stuffing inside.
