This shawl was inspired by the Purple Leaf Plum Tree whose leaves grow in a rounded vase shape into a symmetrical dense canopy. Fragrant light purple to almost white flowers blossom in early Spring before the leaves emerge attracting bees. The pattern is delicate yet dense, providing just enough warmth on those cool Summer evenings. The chosen yarn for the sample is Desert Vista Dyeworks Vior Gradiant in the Plum colorway. The gradiant and vibrant toning lends to a look with excellent stitch definition and drape. The size and shape of the shawl lends itself to be worn either traditionally or draped in a number of ways around the neck, enhancing any outfit for any occasion.

SHAPE: Bottom-up, triangular

NOTIONS: Stitch markers (Optional), tapestry needle for weaving ends.

PATTERN STYLE: The pattern contains written as well as chart instructions. There is a key and full abbreviation list included as well.

DIFFICULTY: Adventurous Beginner/Intermediate- Although, this pattern is all lace, it is a repitive pattern that allows one to not necessarily look at the instructions, yet keeps you engaged in the knitting. The decreases almost become intuitive.

YARN: This pattern is better suited for gradiant, solid or tonal yarn to show off the detail of the lace.

NOTE: I used 460 yards in my sample. If you are a loose knitter, do not swatch to get gauge, or wish to knit this using a larger needle then recommended, please account for more yardage than recommended.
