This pattern is designed so it starts out small and gets larger as you go, working into an assymetrical triangle. It can be made any size from a scarf/shawlette size to a full-sized wrap-around-the-body shawl.

It is perfect for colour-change yarns, specifically Moca Cotton fingering colour-change yarn (found at www.mcpatterns.etsy.com - it uses one skein), which has colour changes that gradually get bigger as it goes along, too. You can work this shawl the given number of rows or until you run out of yarn!

If you run out of yarn and your shawl is not as big as you would like it, you can add a different colour on the end which will create a contrast stripe – a very nice design element.

The name? I adore rain and love how all those drops of water look when cascading down a rain chain, which is what the holes or “drops” look like to me in this shawl.

Gauge is not very important as long as you are happy with the drape of your shawl. Experiment with different-sized yarns and hooks.
