Hello everyone! And welcome to my upcoming Criminal Knits MKAL. Rainbow Ally is a mostly triangular shaped shawlette. It features both cables and lace. So much fun!

Earlier this year I costumed a production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. During that production the cast and crew worked closely with our local trans community to make sure the show was done in a respectful way and at every performance members of the trans community hosted a Q&A after the show. I learned sooooo much. So I decided that this KAL is going to be a fundraiser for trans youth. 50% of the sales of this pattern will go to TransConnect.

“TransConnect is a project that provides support and resources for Transgender and Gender Diverse folk in the East and West Kootenay. We provide educational workshops and resources for service providers, educators, students, mental health workers, police and community forums. TransConnect also provides workshops in the classroom and the community on LGBTQ2IA awareness and how transphobia and homophobia relates to bullying.
Trans people include those whose gender identifying differs from that assigned at birth, and/or those who choose/feel they must express their gender differently than those who accept/feel at ease with their assigned gender role. The term Trans acts as a place holder for many identities often specific to local cultures and/or times in history. It includes Gender Queer, Transgender, Gender variant, Transsexuals, Cross Dressers, No Gender, and Multi Gender, amongst many.”

Materials needed:

approx 430 yds undyed fingering weight yarn (if you’re planning on doing the dying part!)
or 430 yds of any fingering weight yarn if you’re not
5mm circ needles 16” and 32”
red, yellow, and blue dyes.
foam paintbrushes
6 plastic containers
saran wrap

This pattern will go on sale on Wednesday July 15th. First clue goes out on August 5th. The KAL will run for 8 weeks.
