Random Scrappy Stripes are a stockinette stitch and DK weight yarn version of Scrappy Stripes with randomly worked stripes.

The fingerless mittens are knit starting from the thumb, worked to the desired length and shaped with short rows at its base. The hand is worked around the thumb, forming a square. When it reaches the desired width, the square is folded and its two sides are joined on the bind-off row.

The mittens are a perfect way to use small amounts of yarn left over from other projects: I made mine with tiny balls of Miss Babs Yowza (in Honey Cake, Oyster, Coal, French Marigold, Biker Chick).

For size 3, I used Miss Babs Yowza (100% superwash merino wool, 512 m/560 yds per 227 g) in the following colourways:

C1 (thumb): Coal - approx. 30 m/33 yds
C2 (cuff rib): Oyster - approx. 40 m/44 yds
