This free version of the Braided Cable Hat pattern is in the Medium (20”) size only. An expanded version that includes three sizes (18, 20 and 22”) as well as instructions for both solid and two-toned is now available for sale on Knit Picks.

This is my design from the Ravelympics 2010 Designer Biathlon event. Cast on during opening ceremonies, designed, tech edited, photographed, and pattern published by closing ceremonies. Whew. What a fun challenge, and I hope you’ll enjoy knitting the result!

The hat uses about 160 yards of Cascade 200.
