I have created this pattern for the knitting class I will be teaching at our local library.
However this is a good project for anyone who wants to learn to knit. The shape is basically a rectangle.
For a scarf, you will use almost an entire skein of yarn, for the bag you will use only a part of the skein of yarn.
The edge on scarf is achieved by not working the last stitch in each row, but rather slip it from left to right needle without knitting it.
The two button closures for the bag are created with I-cord and sewn on after the bag sides are sewn together and the two buttons are sewn on the front side of the bag.

Finished Measurements:
Scarf: 69” (175 cm) long and 7” (18 cm) wide.
Bag: 7” (18 cm) wide x 5” (13 cm) tall.

Yarn:
Caron Cakes, Medium Worsted (80% Acrylic, 20% Wool; 383 yards (350 meters) / 7.1oz (200 grams)
1 skein for each project.
Or any worsted weight yarn.
