This is a great holiday accessory! Make a set for you, your boyfriend or husband, your brother, your sister, your kids, your friends, your …..! It’ll fit a wide range of hand sizes - 6” through 9” hand circumference (measured above thumb at widest point. The mitt is based on a very easy pattern of mine. Minimal shaping, ribbed at the thumb side of the wrist and the rest stockinette. The pattern goes all the way around the glove to cover back of hand and palm. The reindeer noses and eyes are 6/0 glass beads that are easily hooked on with a size US 13/14 (7.5-8.5mm) steel crochet hook. If you prefer you can sew them on afterwards. Also you can use duplicate stitch for some of the smaller areas of colorwork instead of stranding. I’ve included a couple photos of the mitt made in similar, but more subdued colors; also from Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash Sport.

The pattern includes complete instructions for working from the large, easy to read chart. The yarn is soft and hard wearing. Cascade’s 220 Superwash Sport, which is not sport weight - it works up to a dk gauge and for 12 years we’ve sold it as a dk in our shop!. So if you substitute yarn - go for dk! That being said, we love the yarn. It comes in lovely colors and feels wonderful.

This fingerless mitt pattern is happy and full of holiday spirit! Living in southern Cal, it might be the closest I get to snowflakes this year! The mitts are knitted on double pointed needles, or you can use a teeny 8” length circular, if you can find one.
