Rosaline Kimono Tunic
Rosaline is made in a gorgeous all-over drop stitch ripple with so little shaping that you’ll be surprised that you’re finished! Rosaline is designed to be worn over a camisole, bathing suit or tank in warmer months. Or, it can be worn over a warmer long-sleeve top in the colder months.
The drop stitch is made in a special broomstick lace variation developed by Kim Guzman and special accommodations have been made to the technique in order to get the best effect with such a silky yarn to ensure that the drops stay in place.
Pattern re-written and re-released March 2015.
Small (Medium, Large, 1X, 2X). Model shown in size Small with approximately 6” positive ease. Garment is intended to be oversized with large kimono-style sleeves.
To Fit Bust Sizes
Up to 32-34” (36-38”, 40-42”, 44-46”, 48-50”). Since this is a tunic, remember to check hip measurements against schematic. It’s not much help for it to fit properly at the bust but be too tight at the hips.
At Hem and Bust: 40 (44, 48, 52, 60)”
Total Length: 21 (24, 24, 27, 27)”
Louisa Harding Yarns’ Mulberry, 100% silk, 136 yards per 50g: 7 (9, 10, 13, 16) balls or 900 (1175, 1350, 1760, 2100) yds comparable yarn
Although 100% silk has been used for the model project, it would look equally lovely in DK weight rayon or bamboo. For best results, natural fibers should be used to get the full benefit of blocking out the drop stitches.
For a less expensive alternate yarn, Naturally Caron Spa has been tested. It doesn’t have the same crispness of the silk, but does meet gauge.
Additional materials: Broomstick pin (size 35 knitting needle), 2 split-ring stitch markers and yarn needle.
