The ‘Royal Crocodile’ Crown/Hat is worked using a two-colour modification of the crocodile stitch.

It produces a thick, warm fabric with beautiful texture. The pattern is designed to work in any of the yarns listed below as long as the two colour choices are of the same thickness.

The hat can be made in sizes newborn to adult. Length is fully adjustable should you wish to make a slouchy version.

YOU WILL NEED up to 200m DK, Aran or WW yarn in colours A and B, a hook appropriate for chosen yarn, a stitch marker and a needle for neatening ends.

GAUGE - designed to work with DK, Aran and WW yarns with varying gauges. In DK, you will typically get 4sts and 4 rows to 2.5 cm (1”) when working the crown in UK dc/US sc.

This pattern is written in UK terms. A table of US equivalents is provided for reference.

Pattern has been fully tested.
