Make these for a favourite toy and let your child create an imaginary stable. The saddle strap and all bridle pieces are adjustable so you can alter them to fit your toy. It’s easy to flick the reins over the head so the horse can be either ridden or led.

The two pieces will fit the Snoo’s Knits horse pattern, a My Little Pony (that is, the originals which were made in a shape that could wear a saddle!) or other horses of similar size.

We have separate patterns for the horse, rider, saddle-blankets and rugs - check our other Snoo’s Knits listings.

Difficulty: Easy

Stitches used: kfb, k2tog, p2tog

You will need:
• Brown wool, 20g total. I used Double Knit (8-6 ply, “light worsted”.) Tension square: 10cm x 10cm square is 24 stitches across and 32 rows.
• Knitting needles – I used UK size 11 (3.0mm, US size 2.5)
• Tapestry needle
• Fastening e.g. popper (press stud, snap fastener), plus needle and thread to attach
• Two small metal rings about 1cm in diameter – or you could sew the ends of the bridle parts together and omit the rings.
