SAND & SEA sweater

Sand & Sea sweater is a comfortable ( designed with some ease) light weight casual sweater, perfect to wear on chilly summer days or evenings.
It is a top down — on circular needles — knitted design with a raglan construction of the upper part.
The original design was made for a merino/silk/linen mix yarn.

The yarn I used for my sweater was handdyed by me, with natural colorants, extracted from cow’s parsley, sheep sorrel and black beans. This resulted in great colours like mustard yellow, light kaki and a faded greyish blue.

If you intend to knit your Sand & Sea sweater with a similar look, my advise would be to choose not too saturated colours; the charme of the stripes lays in their ‘ton sur ton’ character.
The yarns in Yarn suggestions ( next page) are all good substitutes, made out of natural fibres and offer a range of colours that get close to the original combination of my design.
The gauge is 21 stitches and 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Sand & Sea sweater is knitted on circular needles 2.5 and 3.5 , starting with a small neck edge.
Then increasions follow on four points, in order to create the body and the sleeves.

The sweater has a 3/4th length sleeve.
