The front panel of this pillow cover is worked in reverse stockinette stitch. The tartan effect is achieved by weaving strands of yarn vertically through alternating purl bumps. The pillow cover’s woven fabric back panels are machine-sewn (or hand-sewn) and have a simple envelope-style opening.

Materials
• Yarn: Loops & Threads Classic Cotton (100% Cotton; 120 yds/2.5 oz – 109 m/70.9 g per skein)
Colour A – Burgundy, 1 skein
Colour B – Twine, 1 skein
Colour C – Pine, 1 skein
Colour D – Tomato, 1 skein
• US 7 (4.5 mm) knitting needles
• Optional: Larger US 8 (5 mm) knitting needle for a looser bind-off
• Iron
• Pillow insert, 20 in. x 20 in. (51 cm x 51 cm)
• 24 in. (61 cm) scrap of smooth yarn in a similar weight and a contrasting colour
• Sewing clips
• Sewing machine or hand-sewing needle
• Sewing scissors
• Tapestry needle with blunt tip
• Thread for sewing machine or needle
• Woven fabric (e.g., cotton twill or upholstery-weight linen), measuring 19.25 in. x 25 in. (49 cm x 63.5 cm)
