Savannah Chaps is a set of African animals in my Scraps Chaps style. The pattern includes instructions for 4 animals: an elephant, a lion, a zebra, and a rhinoceros. The toys can be knit from a single type of yarn, or from multiple yarns like my Scraps Chaps pattern. They can also be knit from worsted or chunky weight yarn, in order to achieve the two different sizes.

The pattern is advanced beginner level. Skills required include stockinette stitch, left and right decrease, m1 increase, intarsia (optional), and mattress stitch. All pieces are knit flat, them seamed, stuffed, and assembled. The lion’s and zebra’s manes are made by knotting pieces of yarn onto the head.

If you’d like to dress your toys, try the Breton Shore outfit.
