This pattern is for a small seagull, whale and crab each with their own beach themed accessory. The seagull can wear the life-ring, the crab can hold the bucket & spade and the whale can lie on the lilo (air mattress)

The pattern includes lots of photos to help you every step of the way. It is written in English, using American crochet terms.

PLEASE NOTE - I have also designed some opening beach huts which the seaside friends can fit inside. If you purchase the seaside friends pattern you will be eligible for a 50% discount on my beach huts pattern (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/beach-huts-4). This discount will be applied automatically to your cart - no code needed!

You will need:

Yarn of your choice. Yarn weight doesn’t really matter - the size of your project will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used Knitcraft Cotton Blend DK yarn (this is quite a thick DK yarn so it is equivalent to aran or light worsted weight in other brands). My finished items were:

Whale = 8cm long x 7cm wide (including the fins).
Crab = 8.5cm long x 9.5cm wide (including the pincers & legs).
Seagull = 7cm long x 7cm tall (in a seated position).

You will need the following colours:

Whale - Light blue (approx. 10.5m), White (approx. 5.5m).

Crab - Orange (approx. 16.5m).

Seagull - White (approx. 14m), Light grey (approx. 3m), Yellow (approx. 3.5m).

There are a selection of accessories which can be made in colours of your choice:

Lilo (Air Mattress) Colour - I used orange (approx. 12.5m).

Bucket Colour - I used red (approx. 6m).

Spade Colour - I used yellow (approx. 2m).

Life Ring Colour - I used red (approx. 5.5m) & a small amount of white (approx. 1m)

Please note = The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide.

You will also need:

A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 3.5mm hook.

Some finer black yarn or thread for adding the crab’s facial features (and all of the eyes if you
choose to embroider them).

6mm black safety eyes (or the eyes can be embroidered if preferred).

Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some scissors a stitch marker.

You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself. Feel free to contact me with any questions as I am more than happy to help. Thank you.
