Knitted with Selkie Cashmere yarn, this shawl evokes a feeling of the sea and the story of the Selkies. Selkies were creatures in seal form who tempted fishermen in the Orkney and Shetland Islands. Upon shedding their seal skin, Selkies would assume human form. A Selkie could only make contact with a human for a brief period of time, unless of course that human stole their seal skin. If you found a Selkie’s skin and hid it, that creature would be bound to you, and could not return to the sea. This shawl, with its undulating ripples, will remind your Selkie of their sea-home and warm their bare shoulders from the soft sea breeze.
