This small shawl has some big angles! Combining a bit of lace with a bit of texture, Septima’s Shawlette was designed for variegated yarns. Even with vibrant color changes, the lines and lace shine through. Knitted from the top down, this pattern is very flexible – you may easily adjust the size to suit your taste and your yarn.

This pattern is asymmetrical in several ways. The increases are not symmetrical, though they continue to grow in consistent directions. Also, the fabric has two textures: stockinette stitch lace with strong diagonals and a simple stretch of garter stitch.

Septima’s Shawlette was designed with variegated yarns in mind. The garter section may look quite plain if you use a solid color. Variegated and tonal yarns are recommended.

This pattern is the first in a series designed around the Harry Potter Series of books and movies. Each will be knitted with a special staff member of Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft in mind. Septima’s Asymmetrical Shawlette is just the thing that Arithmancy Professor Septima Vector would appreciate. There are even vector arrows knitted into the design!

Upcoming patterns will include a special doily for Dolores Umbridge and a free scarf pattern for Professor Charity Burbage!
