She’s big, she’s bold, and she’s beautiful, and she’s my latest muse: the Mexican mermaid has inspired my Serina Tales wrap. This wrap features a modified feather & fan worked between bands of raised garter stitch to create evocative color waves. A loose scallopy edging with two ornamental curves on either ‘tail’ enhances the mermaid mood of this creation.

Serina Tales is knit in DK weight yarn and does not require gauge (mermaids are free, after all). I used HandMaiden Fine Yarns Flaxen (65% silk/ 35% linen), Maiden Hair (67% silk /23% Kid mohair), Double Sea (2ply DK silk & seacell) interchangeably and deployed Mulberry Silk and other thicker yarns for the raised garter stitch bands. Total yardage is estimated to be 500 yards, depending on preferred length and width.
