I think I have become cowl-obsessed! They have become an accessory I don’t want to leave home without. I have made two of these in the last 4 days.

The inspiration for this was garter stitch (which we all love but which can be ho-hum, less-than-challenging) + lace (which always requires our attention). How to combine the two that is not overly difficult but so that we are engaged in the knitting and always doing something?

Okay, let’s use the simplest-possible lace, sometimes called purse stitch. But let’s alternate it with knit rows, which makes it take off at an angle. And of course, that angle then has to be counter-balanced … and therein lies the pattern.

This pattern is not difficult. But its 7-row repeat is counter-intuitive, so a row counter is highly recommended, especially for newer knitters.

You will use all of 2 balls of the recommended yarn!
