“Sheep may safely graze” (“Schafe können sicher weiden”) is the most familiar part of the “Hunting Cantata” BWV208 by Johann Sebastian Bach.
It is a secular cantata composed in 1713 for the 31st birthday of Duke Christian of Saxe-Weissenfels, where it was performed for the first time as musical entertainment during the birthday festivities.
