This pattern was first published in Crochet Pattern a Day Calendar 2006 & was called “Universal Shell Lace Hat” and then later published on my first blog, Granny Square Woman, as “Peach Shell Crocheted Hat” (because the sample was made with a peach colored yarn). It’s been completely rewritten and re-edited for clarity.

Circumference at base of hat: size small 16” (stretches to 18”), medium 18” (stretches to 20”), & large 20” (stretches to 22”). Pattern includes all 3 sizes.
