Shells in the Sand Cowl or Scarf

Now you can enjoy another Victorian inspired treasure—a lovely, airy cowl or scarf that uses a version of the old and popular “razor shell stitch” which I found in an 1850 Victorian pattern for a ‘toilet cushion’—which was a little mat to place dressing table items upon, to protect the wood. I hope you enjoy this design!

It is knit flat, and the 5mm needles make this a quick lace project.

MATERIALS
5mm needles—use needles larger than those normally used for the yarn to achieve an open fabric with good drape.

150g dk/sport weight yarn. I used vintage cotton.

Size approximately 14 inches x 40 inches. NOTE: you can add stitches in multiples of 14 to make it wider. You’d need more yarn then to make it this long, or longer.
