due to government regulation I cannot name the shawl Isfahan, as Paypal is flagging it and declining all payments. Isfahan happens to be in present day Iran and apparently the search bots flag anything that has these words in it.

I changed the name and I think everything is working now with downloading the pattern, but please let me know if they don’t and I will try and figure out what else we can do.

Being a large trading hub on the Silk Road, Isfahan attracted commerce and trade from all over but was also a welcome resting place for the weary before setting out on the more daunting parts of the journey crossing the mountains and deserts in Asia.
Resting sections in this asymmetric shawl offer comfort in the meditative quality of beautiful garter ridges reminiscent of textured lines on cool marble facades.
And flashes of light and lightness are added by alternating lace panels in a contrast color recalling intricate wooden lattice screens, those architectural details on old buildings of arabic influence.

A striking shawl alternating simple garter stitch ridges with classic lace, the best of both worlds!

The pattern is designed so that the individual sections gradually change size and shift against each other, until what was the main focus, becomes smaller and fades/diminishes into the growing sections.

When I set out to design the pattern for this year’s shawl club Silk Road: Explorer and Silk Road: Wayfarer, the theme and the resulting inspiration was so vast, that not all designs made it into the club, and so I took this one and used it as my wedding shawl instead, and am now releasing it under it’s original name, Isfahan!
