Ready for spring, anyone? I was longing for spring when I designed this. Sirène is an asymmetric, boomerang shaped shawl. It uses a simple knitted pattern stitch on one side and purling on the opposite to show off this beautiful yarn. While this was done with a gorgeous Miss Babs variegated yarn, the stitch also looks beautiful in tonal and solid colors. This shawl also has a secret - you can see that there is a “Scale” like stitch but when light shines through it, the scales disappear and tiny flowers appear. One of those happy accidents of designing!

The border is seed stitch followed by a picot bindoff. It is a fairly simple pattern, requiring k1fb, knits and purls, k2tog, and pulling a stitch over the stitches just knitted. Great tv knitting.

Note: In 6th picture the dark area is not pooling; it is the other arm of the shawl in shadow from the back.

Finished measurements: 64” along neck edge by 14” at deepest point.

Materials

2 skeins of Miss Babs Yummy 2 ply - shown in Blue Energy.
US 4 needle or size to attain gauge. Gauge is not crucial…if you wish to knit on a 5 or 6, please do so.
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

For best effect, this shawl needs to be wet blocked to size.
