This double layer hat is actually two hats in one! Using a twist on the classic Norwegian Star motif, the color pattern is cleverly reversed on each side of the hat. Two layers, Fair Isle color work, and an alpaca/merino blend yarn ensure warmth that will resist any snowdrift you may encounter.

The hat requires approx. 175 yds. each, of two contrasting colors of sport weight yarn. A smaller or larger hat may be made by using a lighter or heavier weight of yarn. An alternative gauge of 6 sts to 1” will make an 18 1/2” circumference hat, 5 sts to 1” will make a hat with a 22” circumference.

Yarn used for hat in photo is Avalon Springs Farm Ambrosius, an alpaca/merino blend, in colors Gaul and Stone Cross.
