From the pattern:

“Six wedge-shaped stitch repeats form the foundation of this snowflake pattern beret designed by Donna Druchunas. Embroidery, twisted cord ribbing at the edge and a braided and corded tassel make up this unique design.”

One correction to the pattern - it calls for rows 1-9 of the cable charts to be repeated three (3) times, then work rows 1-29 to finish the tam. Per the picture, rows 1-9 are only worked three times total.
