My youngest Granddaughter, Indi, was fascinated by my knitting machine and asked me if I could make her a snowflake jumper

I couldn’t refuse and she happily watched me as the pieces were all knitted

I wanted to give a raglan jumper a modern neckline and came up with the one you can see in the photos

I am offering this pattern as a free design as I have only worked out the calculations for the one size which is a generous 5-6 years

I’m sure it could be easily adjusted for bigger or smaller children

This is a design for a standard gauge punchcard knitting machine and ribber
I have written this out as simply as I can using diagrams but if you need any help, please contact me using the email address at the end of the pattern

MATERIALS
Approximately 1680 metres 4ply yarn and a small amount of contrast for the snowflake
Waste yarn

For the double decreases I used 4 prongs of a multi prong tool, this is not essential but it gives the fully fashioned decreases a little more definition than the 3 pronged tool will give you

TENSION
28 stitches and 40 rows to 10 cms square in stocking stitch at TD 7

Different machines produce different tensions as do different colours of the same yarns! I strongly advise you to make a 60st tension piece following the instructions in the manual for your machine, wash and dry the piece as you would your finished article, before measuring. I use the green ruler supplied with my machine

I don’t give a punchcard design for this garment but any 24st pattern repeat can be used, the snowflake that I used has a 25 row repeat
